Electrical Business Unit Director
Who We Are
We are ENG, a leading BIM company serving Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) clients by delivering MEP Modeling and Coordination, along with services like Steel Framing, Prefabrication, BIM for Facility Management, Scan to BIM, and Design Assist. We work on large‑scale, complex projects (data centers, airports, hospitals, plants, etc.) using BIM to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and modernize the construction industry.
We value honesty, accountability, and a win‑win mentality, and operate as a horizontal, collaborative organization where people continuously learn from each other.
The Role – Electrical Business Unit Director (BUD)
The Electrical BUD will lead a semi‑independent Business Unit, delivering electrical BIM/VDC services for US‑based projects. A Business Unit in ENG is a group of approximately 15–30 team members with its own set of clients, portfolio of projects, P&L, and growth strategy. This BU will be fully dedicated to the electrical trade, delivering BIM/VDC solutions for complex, US‑based MEP projects.
You will:
- Oversee the strategy, operations, and profitability of the Electrical BU.
- Lead a diverse team of Project Managers, BIM Coordinators, Technical Leaders, Job Captains, BIM Specialists, and Modelers focused on US electrical BIM/VDC projects.
- Ensure world‑class delivery to US clients while building a strong career path and growth experience for team members.
This position reports to the Head of Electrical Trade and the C‑suite, and collaborates closely with other BUDs across ENG.
Location, Availability & Time Zones: Remote role based in LATAM, working as an independent contractor for ENG. Flexibility to work across all time zones (PST, MST, CST, EST) is expected, depending on client needs. Occasional travel to the United States to visit client sites and industry events may be required based on project demands.
Mandatory Requirements
Technical & Market Experience
- 10–20 years of experience in the AEC industry with a strong technical foundation in electrical systems and BIM/VDC for MEP.
- Strong hands‑on BIM modeling experience (Revit + Navisworks as a minimum). Profiles that only supervised or coordinated without modeling themselves will not be considered.
- Mandatory: substantial experience working on US‑based BIM MEP projects (either from LATAM for US clients or having been physically in the US). Only candidates with robust exposure to US codes, standards, and construction culture will be considered.
- Advanced, hands‑on proficiency in Revit and Navisworks for MEP/Electrical.
- Experience with tools like AutoCAD, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, Recap, and Bluebeam or similar is highly valued.
- Proven experience directing BIM/VDC teams, not just acting as a BIM Lead. You must have led large multi‑layer teams (PMs, Coordinators, Tech Leads, Job Captains, Specialists, Modelers, or similar positions).
- Experience with financial management, KPIs, and P&L‑oriented decision‑making in a business, division, or BU context.
Education
- An Advanced or Bilingual English (spoken and written) is mandatory, as all delivery, most documentation, client communication and key stages of the process are in English.
- We are primarily open to Electrical Engineers, Electromechanical Engineers, or Civil Engineers with strong electrical specialization.
Other degrees may be considered only with a proven, long-term track record in mission-critical electrical projects (e.g., data centers). We are not looking for architects with limited electrical exposure—this role requires a purely electrical-focused background.
