Business Unit Director - Mechanical Design Service
At ENG, the Business Unit Director position plays a pivotal role in managing and guiding the entire business unit. The Business Unit Director (BUD) is responsible for overseeing the business unit as a whole, leading teams and building long-term strategies to achieve the company's goals. They work at a high managerial level, ensuring the alignment of internal resources with client needs, and managing relationships with key external stakeholders. The BUD supports and guides the Project Managers and other leaders within the unit, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment. In addition, this role involves significant responsibility for business development, client acquisition, and overall financial performance.
Mandatory requirements:
- Experience in heavy engineering, especially in projects like Oil & Gas, and semi-conductor manufacturing.
- Hands-on recent modeling experience in Hexagon software, such as Smart Plant and Plant 3D.
- Deep and up-to-date knowledge of the microchip industry.
- Bachelors degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Broad experience managing large teams of engineers.
- Broad experience with the BIM methodology.
- A commercial, client-oriented skillset and mindset.
The role of the BUD requires advanced knowledge in both business management and the technical aspects of the industry, including financial management, negotiation, and team leadership.
Their responsibilities include:
- Strategic leadership and planning: Developing long-term business strategies and growth plans for the Business Unit, ensuring alignment with the company’s mission and goals.
- Client and stakeholder management: Establishing and nurturing relationships with clients, vendors, and other key stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction and identifying opportunities for growth and collaboration.
- Financial oversight: Managing the overall financial health of the Business Unit, including budget oversight, cost control, profitability, and revenue generation. The BUD ensures that all financial aspects align with company objectives.
- Team leadership and development: Leading and mentoring Project Managers and other key staff members. Promoting a strong leadership culture within the Business Unit, developing talent, and ensuring that teams have the resources and support they need.
- Project and resource management: Overseeing the allocation of resources across multiple projects within the unit, ensuring optimal use of staff, time, and budgets.
- Business development: Actively seeking new opportunities for business growth, expanding the Business Unit’s client base, and securing new projects. Engaging in sales and proposal processes, collaborating with the Sales team on client pitches and negotiations.
- Innovation and continuous improvement: Fostering a culture of innovation within the team, working closely with the Innovation and PMO departments to streamline workflows and implement new technologies or processes that improve efficiency and quality of services.
- Risk management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with client projects, financial operations, or resource allocation, and making informed decisions to protect the unit’s success.
